At the end of September, our team went on a retreat together with terrestris in Slenaken (NL). Many of us traveled there by bike – a communal, relaxed, and climate-friendly journey. Once there, shared cooking, good food, and many conversations were just as much a part of it as focused working sessions.

Free from the pressure of appointments, we were able to experiment, explore, and envision together. Here are a few of the ideas that emerged during that time:

Artificial Intelligence & Geodata
A special milestone: we have launched a new open source project that uses AI methods for the automatic analysis of geodata. With it, we can efficiently detect sealed surfaces, individual trees, or other structures in aerial imagery – a big step toward more flexible and reusable solutions for our projects and clients.

Computing Infrastructure
Behind the scenes, we’re modernizing our technical foundation: our systems for launching and managing cloud resources are being migrated to a new platform. This ensures greater stability, transparency, and future-readiness for our data processing.

actinia & GRASS GIS
Our open source tools also made progress: we implemented important improvements to our testing and data processing workflows, making geodata work even more efficient and reliable.

Beyond that, we worked on product development and tested new approaches to data visualization and performance – using tools such as Julia, Grafana, and Apache Superset.

And last but not least, our mundialis vision took center stage: we refined our shared values, goals, and the future direction of the company.

A big thank-you to the whole team for the great spirit, the many ideas, and the energy during these days! 💚
