Outcomes from GRoW conference

14. September 2017 | Category General

GRoW conference was a great opportunity to learn about the other projects financed under GRoW funding measure and to exchange with the different projects holders. It allows also to learn about the common points shared by all the projects and the research questions that these projects attempt to answer from different points of view at local and global scale (water resources, water quality, water security, water scarcity, water footprint, virtual water, governance and water management, etc.).

The center thematic of the projects is “water” as one of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The different research projects are connecting “Clean water and sanitation” (SDG number 6) thematic with other SDGs such as “Zero hunger” (SDGs 2), “Life on land” (SDG 15), “Life below water” (SDG 14) or “Affordable and clean energy” (SDG 7) which is the case of the project WANDEL in which mundialis is involved.

Remote sensing techniques where privileged in these projects as a mean to extract the direct and the indirect information to lead further the analysis especially at a global scale analysis. By making use of the High Resolution (HR) Copernicus free Sentinel data, derived products such as land use land cover monitoring, precipitation, temperature, soil moisture etc. are for a great benefit for the analysis and the modeling activities to achieve these projects.
