FOSSGIS Conference 2020: Overview on mundialis activities
It is not a novelty in the history of the FOSSGIS that the conference will take place at a location where it has already been held. After 2008, this year’s FOSSGIS conference will once again take place at the Albert-Ludwigs University of Freiburg. We from mundialis again are going to participate this year. As in the past years, we support the conference as a sponsor, but of course it is much more important for us to present our latest developments and projects.
Carmen Tawalika will give the presentation “FOSS in the Cloud” together with Daniel Koch from terrestris. We at mundialis are also increasingly confronted with the questions on how to process large amounts of geo- and remote sensing data. To cope with this, distributed systems in the cloud, have been increasingly used in recent years. This trend does not stop at the area of FOSS (Free and Open Source Software) and is already well established. The talk will give an overview of the concepts of cloud computing, the available tools and requirements of service-oriented architecture for successful scalability of geoprocessing-services.
In a second talk we will present the latest developments around the OSGeo Community Project actinia. In our talk “GRASS GIS in the Cloud: actinia Geoprocessing” we will seamlessly connect to the above mentioned, because actinia is a software that allows API access to GRASS functionality and process chains and that also orchestrates geo-processing in a cloud environment.
We at mundialis are looking forward to meeting the German speaking Open Source GIS community again and maybe also you? There are still some remaining tickets available!
