HERMOSA – Holistic Ecoystem Restoration Monitoring, repOrting, Sharing and mArketplace

21. February 2020 | Category blog

HERMOSA logoSince July 2019, mundialis has been working together with terrestris on a platform partly financed by the European Space Agency (ESA) to support the restoration of ecosystems. For this purpose 4 modules are being developed:

(1) Identification of degraded land areas using geographical and satellite data and connection of relevant stakeholders
(2) Support for the implementation of projects using interactive maps
(3) Monitoring projects using satellite data and generating reports based on this independent data
(4) Learning from best practice examples and exchange of knowledge

Indonesia, Uganda and Peru are 3 pilot countries on 3 continents where stakeholder workshops have taken place or will take place in Peru in March 2020. The aim is to work with local practitioners to identify necessary functionality adapted to local challenges and then implement it.

Further information can be found at https://hermosa.mundialis.de/ or https://business.esa.int/projects/hermosa or via the mailing list: https://list.mundialis.de/postorius/lists/hermosa.list.mundialis.de/

All those interested in ecosystem restoration are invited to participate in the discussion on how to create the most functional system possible.
