Spectacular colours and shapes from the world of science
Designing Interiors with Satellite Data
Large-format wall pictures based on current satellite data to create spectacular designs for offices, reception rooms, hotel foyers, conference rooms or exclusive private spaces: the StartUp company mundialis from Bonn transforms raw data taken from the new European remote sensing Sentinel satellites into art – printed in high quality and customised individually for each room and space.
Originally, the StartUp company mundialis from Bonn is occupied with sciences and geography. They work on the establishment of data services with satellite data that is processed automatically. Such services can be used in order to analyse for example the climate change. While doing so – more or less as a side effect – pictures emerge. Those pictures are highly aesthetical and all the colours and shapes of the Earth become harmonic and abstract pieces of art. The pictures are particularly beautiful, whenever the scientists use spectral bands that are invisible for the human eye to visualise the vegetation or water content in the soil.
The Sentinel-satellites, which were sent to space by the space agency ESA as recently as last year and this year, deliver raw data of an unimaginable quality. In addition to that, those data are available and accessible for free. The company mundialis paints with such raw data and creates large-format wall pictures that go far beyond scientific presentations.
Pictures up to 20 square meters in size are available. The images are delivered according to the customer’s wishes, for example laminated on aluminium composite boards, behind a glass pane, available as fine art prints in exhibition quality, as a light box or an individual crafted tapestry. Shapes of the coastline with a high recognition value or abstract consolidations for surprisingly colourful desert landscapes in Asia – the Earth offers numerous motifs. Not only the haptic of the picture is designed individually, but also the printed scenery is chosen accordingly to the customer’s wishes. To do so, the respective data from space are processed in order to create the desired design in offices, reception rooms, hotel foyers, conference rooms or exclusive private spaces. Science and design cooperate and work hand in hand – a one-stop service.
